The Jamaican American population of Atlanta has really blossomed the last 20 years.

Also not surprising but crazy that over 40% of all immigrants to South Florida are Cuban or Haitian.

Also Boston is the only metro where no one immigrant group makes up more than 10% of the population.

Anecdotally I can attest to the fact that there’s a ton of global representation for such a small metro. The list above only covers 40% of our immigrant groups.

Sizable Armenian, Iranian, Somalian, Ugandan, Jamaican, Honduran, Salvadoran, Columbian , Irish, Italian, Ghanaian, Italian, Ethiopian, Russian, Kenyan, Canadian, Vietnamese, Polish, Lebanese, Greek, Liberian, Filipino, Cambodian, Mexican, Barbadian, Guatemalan and Trinidadian populations make up the bulk of the rest the Boston CSA’s 1.36 million immigrants.

But I also meet folks from smaller islands like USVI, St Kitts and Nevis, Guyana, Montserrat, Antigua, Dominica, and Grenada, as well as Belize.

I’ve met close to 10 Afro Hondurans over the course of 2 years in Houston. It all makes sense now. I wonder what’s the number of Jamaicans because I’m starting to see more of them. I thought the Mexican percentage would be higher.

So Puerto Rico isnt a different country so they dont track it that way, but I have a couple of numbers that may give you some insight.

Puerto Ricans population in Hartford CSA: 134,739
Hispanics born outside CT and MA but not foreign born: 36,932 (this would include those born in PR but other states as well).

Huh. Were there more new Lusophone immigrants than Hispanophone immigrants to Boston last year? Or do multiple smaller groups from other south/central American countries push the Spanish-speakers over Portuguese-speakers?
