I've been reading for a while about the food in New Orleans on this board and the uncontrollable fanfare for it and always thought people were being delusional, I could see where they get their enthusiasm for now. The food in New Orleans is really too good, and the part that sucks is that when you leave, you wont be getting anything like it anywhere else.

As a place to visit, I'd go with Las Vegas and New Orleans, I haven't been to Las Vegas yet but I'd like to explore Las Vegas Boulevard with the help of Mali. It's the next American city I'm going to see of the ones I haven't, just haven't planned when yet.

As a resident, I'd go with Miami.
Why wouldn't you live there?

Tie for Miami and New Orleans.

I like huge cities, so I know I wouldn't be miserable in Los Angeles, but I have no strong desire to live there.

Too small. It's not in my population bracket.

New Orleans is and has for years been the most unique city in this country. Its a walkable city unlike L.A. Has awesome, unique architecture without using stucco or tile roofs. Very few hours-long traffic jams. There's no smog issue. 1 of a kind cuisine. Warmer winters. We have a severe lack of superficiality.

...I agree. Why put them in the same sentence?

To add to the thread, In about 10 years we might move to L.A. so I can be closer to my family. I love L.A.'s beaches, its global brand, diversity, and cool Summers.

With that said, I enjoy New Orleans a hell of a lot more. I love our charm, uniqueness, our people, our accents, architecture, cuisine, our live music, OUR DRINKS AND LAX DRINKING LAWS, and much more...plus the fact we're not too huge a city.

My young family and I love living in New Orleans EVERYDAY!

I don't really like Vegas nor Miami.

L.A.

New Orleans/Miami - depends what you want. Miami is bigger, but less singular. There really is nowhere else anything like NOLA.

Las Vegas: one note town. I like it for about 3 days and then REALLY, REALLY want to leave.

It wouldn't be for me either, however, it feels much larger.

My rankings go--

4. New Orleans -economy pretty slow, lack of high paying jobs overall, some crime, muggy and hot most of year
3. Las Vegas -some suburbs are really nice, good quality of life. Too much focus on gambling and drinking, etc
2. Miami -incredible beaches, fast-growing, international and cosmopolitan. Too bad it's in the state of Florida (politics, red)
1. Los Angeles -logical pick out of these. Huge city, entertainment mecca, tons of job opportunities, beautiful mountains and coastline, much better weather than any of the other 3 cities
