Hispanic Growth:
- Houston more than Miami? Thought Houston was losing Mexicans. It sure is making it up from the other Latin countries.
- DC numbers seem low. I thought they would have gotten that much just in central Americans.

Black Growth:
Charlotte and Raleigh look low, New Orleans look high(no puns please) .

Asian Growth:
Miami needs to get in the program if it wants to make diversity claims. If the 3 major metros in the state it gained the least.

I don't think Miami’s diverse Hispanic population makes up for its lukewarm Asian Growth. Miami is often ranked in the 2nd tier for diversity but I would drop it lower. Can't be diverse in 'the America's ' only. DFW was top 5 across all groups. DFW will be considered more diverse than Miami soon
So to clarify, the number of foreign born Mexicans is declining almost everywhere but these numbers include people who claim Mexican ancestry and those numbers aren't declining. In the case of Houston, Mexicans (all of which would be Mexican American) were about 50% of the total Hispanic growth. In DFW that number was about 68%.

Miami is a thorn in my side in terms of how it would rank. It's very international and has lots of immigrant groups, they are just all from one area of the world. It's the only major international metro area with that problem.

For Charlotte, there is an explanation. Mostly Ive been posting numbers by Metro Area. I recently switched to Urban Area. Charlottes urban area actually is much smaller than its Metro area and many areas like Rock Hill, Gastonia, and Concord are not included.

White people have had it with California, Miami, Southern New England and New York? Because I’d assume they’re leaving New Haven Worcester and Springfield too. Probably leaving New Haven much faster though.

9 of the bottom 13 are in New England, New York, or Cali

The wealthiest group is not interested in the most expensive areas- on its surface it seems strange.

The numbers make it look like Pittsburgh grew heavily. Maybe some were off?

I think New England is pretty easy to explain. It’s much whiter than the country as a whole. As a result even if the inbound and outbound migration was totally random (and even) it would lead to a net loss of White people. For Providence for example inbound migration would be 60% white and outbound migration would be 76% white if it were totally random.

While for Seattle you could make a similar argument, most of the entire NW is whiter than Seattle so the highest volume areas, would be whiter than Metro Seattle (and it’s growing much faster)

It’s probably more extreme than that because most inbound migration is probably from NY/NJ/MD and Greater Philly. Which is much less white than New England.

But of course domestic migration is negative while International migration largely makes up the difference. And international migration is overwhelmingly non-white

I have to disagree

off top your theory is debunked by trends in:

Indianapolis/Indiana
Minneapolis/Minnesota
Denver/Colorado
Pittsburgh/Pennsylvania
Portland/Oregon
Salt Lake City/ Utah

All just as whiter than the Southern New England besides Denver. And Denver is a majority white core city

Especiallly considering MA RI CT have white population that are below the median in the US. And the CT metros are only 60% white right in line with Greater Philly. So right there this doesn’t really pass the sniff test. New England when you remove northern New England is not especially white. That being said New Hampshire is very white and has been seeing a growing white population…

Also we’re looking at outbound more so than inbound movement.

While there was a decline in Latino immigration to California during the 2010s, the massive numbers of migrants at the border is historically unprecedented. While Non-Mexican/Central American Latinos are modest in numbers in California, that could change. It would not surprise me if LA has a Venezuelan enclave in 5 years.

Sacramento White growth may have been due to Ukrainian refugees but also White flight from the Bay Area. LA is a disaster for White population with about a quarter million Whites leaving. Latino growth is still significant for LA but I have seen other sources showing stagnation.

This was my fault. It was actually 7,252. I took at the total population and subtracted it by mistake. They are right next to each other.

Looking at the others, it looks like Pittsburgh was the outlier and the others look right.
