I might imagine parts of Portland and SLC? But haven’t personally been.
The Beltline isn't a hiking trail though. I'd say Stone Mountain or Kennesaw Mountain would be the closest/best options in metro Atlanta.

Bellingham, WA is a smaller city with an extensive trail system through town for biking and walking. You can even get to an in-town waterfall and waterfront on both fresh and saltwater within the city.

Agreed, Bellingham has a rad little trail network, I've visited a few times in the summer (which was still cold by my PHX standards) but such a cool little town.

Love Bellingham. Since we are talking about PNW I'd like to mention Chehalis Western Trail

Tucson is surrounded by 5 mountain ranges. All offer excellent hiking trails in natural surroundings that range from easy to extreme. Tucson Mountain Park is right on the western edge of the city with easy access to local residents and visitors.

For a mega-city, Los Angeles has some impressive hiking right next to the populated parts of the city. Griffith Park, Hollywood Hills, Santa Monica Mountains, San Gabriel Mountains and the Verdugo Mountains are just the start.

The neighborhood of Miller Beach in Gary is surrounded on three sides by the Indiana Dunes National Park and has miles of incredible trails on three sides and a 6-mile stretch of beach on Lake Michigan. The hiking is the main reason I bought a place there.

The Cleveland Metroparks (also called the Emerald Necklace) are some of the best urban nature parks in the country. There are several within Cleveland proper, and many others in the inner and outer ring suburbs. The most notable urban ones are the Rocky River Reservation, Edgewater Park, Wildwood Park/Euclid Beach. There’s also the “Towpath” bike/hiking trail that runs from Lake Erie through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and continues south through Akron and Canton.

I love Cedar Ridge Preserve

Also, Big Cedar Wilderness is a great mountain bike/hiking area too.

For those that are curious, Cedar Ridge and Big Cedar Wilderness are in the same general area. Big Cedar was just added to the parks system a week or two ago. The hills are caused by the Balcones Escarpment which is the same geographic feature that caused the Texas Hill Country in Central Texas and the City of Austin itself. The rocky hills and cliffs in Big Cedar (covers 282 acres) are up to 200 ft and Cedar Ridge (covers 600 acres) up to 755 ft.

I know the entire video is quite lengthy, but skip to 9:30 and watch until 11:00 to get an idea of the terrain.

Here's the general area, which is located in SW Dallas

Duluth Minnesota has wonderful trails, lots of them along trails that cut ravines through rocky canyons. Also, along Lake Superior between pine trees and along pebble beaches. It's been cited as best urban trail system by an outdoor magazine a few years in a row.

Gary's Miller Beach neighborhood is surrounded by the Indiana Dunes National Park so it's easy to walk onto a national park trail that takes you to the lakefront or another section of the national park. I guess you could call this neighborhood urban, but it's definitely more of a small town atmosphere, it has its own neighborhood downtown and South Shore RR stop. https://www.visitmillerbeachgary.com...indiana-trails
