Was going thru The latest Census and couldn't help but notice How Close Atl DC and Philly Are, in the Past DC and Philly where Way ahead of Atlanta. But According to 2022 Census estimates They Are Now Neck and Neck, But this is 2023 Almost 2024 And I was Thinking, Maybe Atlanta Has Already Passed DC and Philly it's just not official yet.....is it Time to start calling Atlanta the Sixth Largest Metro ???
8 Atlanta–Sandy Springs–Roswell, GA MSA
2022: 6,237,435
These Are the 2022 Estimates As You Can See Atlanta is Now Close to Philly and DC in Metro Population. Question is now in 2023 has Atlanta in Reality Already Surpassed the DC and Philly Metros

It's likely passed both, but here comes the "Atlanta is larger in land mass" crowd, disregarding the fact that all metros fall under the same definition. I also wonder if Philadelphia will benefit from its decent COL and diverse economy, moving forward...
Some folks are seriously selecting, “It Will Never Happen?”
Wtf? The hateration is real…
There is a strong anti-sunbelt bias that impacts these kind of polls. Let some people live in denial. It doesn’t really matter since we all know Atlanta is probably bigger than at least Philly right now.

Oh yes. That’s why I wrote my post above.
Anti-Sunbelt and Very Anti-Atlanta, especially.

I think there are indicators that Philly is heading that way, in all objective honesty.
Something fascinating occurred in the Philly region this past year that hasn't occurred probably for decades: it has amongst the fastest job growth among large US metros, even faster than metros like Atlanta or Miami, according to recent BLS numbers. The only large cities with faster job growth were basically the big metros of Texas. That's it.
Combined with housing that's now more affordable than places like Atlanta, Dallas and Nashville, and a climate that's becoming more temperate by the year, it will be very interesting to see whether migration trends may very well shift back towards Philly's favor.
