Well both cities are almost identical- except for Stockton having more "bad spots" I live in motown and there are some good neighborhoods here. Modesto also have a WAY larger mall than Stockton.
Stay away from the Stockton downtown and the area south of crosstown freeway(this is like 75% of the city!!)
Stay away from areas in Modesto west of 99 and south of Kansas ave. Also airport neighborhood and empire.
If u r going to live in modesto, u might wanna live in the upper east side(north of the creek) and north of briggsmore. Also if ur like hella rich try del rio or Wycliffe or Lakewood neighborhoods

They are very similar but I'll say Modesto for safety,Stockton for things to do.

75% of the city? Are you serious? Motown, most of the city is really actually north of crosstown freeway... I live in Stockton and there are some good neighborhoods here too.

Stockton has an arena and seems a bit bigger and fresher.

I would highly recommend Stockton, aside from certain areas (which are obvious if you drive through). There actually is a lot to do, and I have been through both towns hundreds of times, and prefer Stockton.

I'd pick the Stockton area over the Modesto area.

More centrally located.
