The thread asked about skylines not density or street level urbanity. DC doesn't have as skyline, I like taking photos of skylines and DC doesn't have a skyline. So it's mostly I'm selfish
Never said the city wasn't great. At street level, it's one of the best cities in the country.

You can have a skyline and be dense. San Francisco and Boston come to mind.
DC doesn't need a skyline in my opinion. It looks beautiful the way it is. Now, I can see one being developed way off in the distance kind of like La Defense in Paris.
Roslyn, VA or Crystal City, VA or even Silver Spring, MD can arguably be considered DC's "La Defense" Tyson's Corner/McLean, VA is farther out.
As for this thread, I'm still sticking to my guns about Phoenix's skyline, which I find to be underwhelming and unimpressive for such a large city. All the Phoenix homers can whine about this all day for all I care, but I'm entitled to my opinion.
Yes, I understand about the sprawling, low lying nature of the city, but Dallas and Houston have nice skylines and they're about as sprawling as Phoenix, if not more. Yes, I am aware of the height restrictions due to Sky Harbor Airport, but just as other posters pointed out, Honolulu's skyline is pretty impressive in spite of its height limit. I'll also throw in San Diego, another city that has a decent skyline considering its height limit.

I think it's less about the above (bolded) and more about the opinions posted continuously by the same people who need to whine and constantly reiterate about how they feel about certain cities, Phoenix being included. It got old last year (at least).

Im saying how I feel about the skyline NOT the city, I said I would LOVE to move there, but the skyline is still teeny and stumpy and underwhelming for a city of that size regardless of height restrictions, and im sticking to that opinion

Heck No, Albuquerque has 3 other high-rises just waiting to ground break.. once this econmy recovers this town will see the cranes. The tallest of all, the Residences at Pacard place it is being pushed to May of 2010 at 45 stories and over 530ft. Height wise we smash El Paso and high-rise count we also crush em'..
I don't care if Albuquerque has a limited skyline; doesn't matter to me at all. I just love New Mexico and Albuquerque or Santa Fe are absolutely gorgeous cities.

You really seem to take it a bit too personally when people say they aren't impressed with Phoenix's skyline. You and I have been through this before long ago, and I just agreed to disagree, because I saw we were getting nowhere fast.

I'm not quite sure why some of your are taking this so personally...again, I was responding to your post, but I didn't say you...
I'm not offended if people don't like the skyline, in fact it's not my favorite by a long shot. I'm speaking specifically about the people who constantly complain about certain cities (whether it's the skyline or not). If you think that includes you, great...if not, great.
