Who and where?

----------------------

When the lights go down in the city

And the sun shines on the bay

I want to be there in my city

Ohh, ohhh

So you think you're lonelyWell my friend I'm lonely too

I want to get back to my city by the bay

Ohh, ohhh

Its sad, oh, there's been mornings out on the roadWithout you, without your charms

Ohh, my, my, my - my, my, my Ohhhhh

When the lights go down in the city

And the sun shines on the bay

Ooh I want to be there in my city

I'd still think of SF/OAK/SJ when I hear 'the Bay', but that is pretty general. 'Bay Area' though is no contest.

When I hear "the Bay" I think the Chesapeake. However, if you say "the Bay Area" I always think San Francisco.

There's a part of Memphis called "the Bay" or "the Bay Area" It's Frayser in the northwestern part of the city. I have no idea why they call it that, maybe because it's by the River?

Like I said several times in the other thread:
If someone said they were from "The Bay", most people in the U.S. would look at them confusedly and say "Do you mean The San Fran Bay Area? They would assume that the person actually left out the word "area" by mistake, arrogance, or apparently they were just being ghetto.

No one else in the country knows the San Francisco Bay Area as "The Bay" and it is frankly stupid for someone to use that term anywhere in the country...Including California!
