Osaka is more urban. In fact Japanese cities are more urban than any city in the US(including NYC). I prefer Chicago though because its more diverse. I'm not going to lie, Japanese cities do look cool and fun, but Japan is very homogenous(98.5% ethnic Japanese) and suspicious about outsiders moving in. That is my only concern
I see why there aren't many Japanese immigrants in the USA. They have everything they need in Japan and its economy is second largest after US in the world.

Agree the first two sentences. In Japan pepople live right IN the cities. That's why it always feels more urban. In America it is still like people live in the suburbs and commute to the cities. Chicago outside the waterfront is pretty flat.

America was more city oriented 60 years ago. Now people are caught up with living in the suburbs and open space. And You also have to look at that Japan is set on islands which can cause higher density. America have way more space than Japan.
Really, how could Chicago ever compete with miles and miles of this?
