These are two cities with a lot of similar strengths compared to the vast majority of other US cities, so it's funny that people are so extreme with their statements.
must of been a bunch of dummies who polled. Philly is a MUUUUUCH better city than sh!tcago. no comparison
Lol ----> guess which city this is?
No double standard in post. Some go back and forth in comments for cities. I know Philly has also come a long way. But still one city despite its issues shines. If one disagrees? You can address that.

Most reasonable posters agree with this. These vs threads always bring out the extreme.
I think Philly and Chicago are generally about equal here.
Not the past few years... Chicago has had significantly higher homicide rates. Philadelphia has been hovering around 15 to 17 per 100,000. Chicago has been 20 to 22+ per 100,000, and ended last year at nearly 28 per 100,000.

I don't think these data are accurate. Averaged 2010-2015, Philadelphia had the higher homicide rate.
2016 was of course a horrible uptick for homicides in many U.S. cities, including Chicago, but I think it is a fair assessment that Chicago and Philadelphia have pretty comparable crime rates in many aspects, including homicide rates (neither of which have rates worth mentioning in positive terms).
