While there are some rural expanses, at least for the Crescent (Charlotte, RTP, Triad) I think they do connect. Kind of like an extreme microcosm of BoWash. In that BoWash is believed to be connected but there is definitely rural divides along some parts. Plus, what if you want to pluck your own chicken? LOL.

Using that criteria, I'd say that Charlotte and Columbia "connect" also. After all, their CSAs border each other.

Triangle, I would never move to the Triad...

Also, as stated earlier, the four metros in the map are in fact loosely connected. 56.17% of North Carolina's population lives in the Triangle, Triad, Charlotte, or Fayetteville metros. Fayetteville's connection, for anyone with question, lies in the fact that it is in Raleigh's sphere of influence (media, entertainment, etc), and Raleigh is the closest big city to commute to for anything; it's not uncommon to hear of people from Fayetteville headed to Raleigh, and vice versa. So yeah, the majority of NC are residents of the general center of the state. If you choose to take Fayetteville out of the equation for whatever reason, 52.4% of the state still resides within the Big Three, which is where all the influence for the state is anyway...

If I wanted amenities that catered more to the African American community, which would be better? or would it matter? I'm thinking clubs, bars, business opportunities, women, HCBU Life, Middle Class AA communities

I would favor The Triangle. Raleigh has a more complete black experience than any other city here, and Durham would probably be second. There is a huge black middle class, and the opportunities that come with are also large...

Raleigh-Durham and Charlotte offer top-tier amenities offered specifically to blacks in America...

Both offer all these, but since the Triangle is larger and more prosperous, it will have more to offer in all these areas.
