I am trying to figure out where all this money to build these skyscrapers are coming from. It has to be coming from the private sector. The Tax base in the city of Atlanta relatively small compared to other cities. If anyone has info as to why please let me know I am very interested. Thanks !!!!

Actually a better question is: "Who is going to rent the space in the superscrapers?"

Atlanta and DFW are the epitome of the low-rise suburban campus office parks; the sprawl is reflective of that.

Is there something wrong with that?

An office is an office.

Well big oil and energy companies have a history of building big huge office towers to show off their wealth. Most other big corporation don't find it necessarily important.

I just get the feeling Atlanta and Miami are going to end up like Dallas did in the past with over building when the demand is not there. It took years for Dallas to fully recover.
Houston's skyline has changed, you just can't really see it because most of the newer towers constructed in downtown over the past 10 years have been under the 600' mark making their views obstructed by the much taller towers surrounding them.

Dallas' building boom was in Uptown, which now almost seamlessly meshes together with downtown to the untrained eye. The tallest constructed has remained the W Hotel at 440 ft.

I don't really know what you mean by super tower? Like the Sears Tower? Miami has plans to start building this skyscraper that will reach over 1,000 ft. in 2011 being the "tallest South of Manhattan." As far as towers go they have that Miapolis thing planned out I don't know if they'll build it though.

God I hope they don't build Miapolis. Its location off of the MacArthur Causeway is a disaster waiting to happen. Also, it will ruin the allure of the Bay between Miami and the Beach.
