I personally don't love historic architecture, if I did, then SF as a whole probably does have better historic architecture then Seattle. But I'm talking about more modern, futuristic tinted architecture. And from that standpoint, I think a handful of Seattle's high rises are better then any of the ones in SF. But that's just from my perspective.

IMHO, no Eastern city can compete with the big California West Coast cities, except maybe Miami.

I'd say it's a 3-way tie between L.A., SF, and San Diego. And cities like the big southern ones and some midwestern ones are just so GENERIC. It's like they hired WalMart to design those cities. Not coincidentally, that's where you will find all the WalMarts, also.

I'd have to go with San Francisco. If you're combining amazing man-made architecture (i.e. the Golden Gate Bridge) with amazing setting (i.e. the bay) that city wins. Seattle's in a close second, in my opinion, followed by Portland, Oregon - for pretty much the same reason. I adore Chicago, and the lakefront and buildings there are spectacular, but it is missing that stunning mountain background.

San Francisco is a very good option, as is San Deigo. Which one would you guys prefer from the two though?

I voted Seattle because of the nature setting that blends with the metro area.

I haven't seen a better combination of a city whose downtown is near the water/coast, mountains, vicinity to a foreign country not too far, and beautiful tree's like that before. Seattle does over due SD and SF for sure.

Yeah, it's an unique region unlike almost anywhere in the world. Auckland, NZ is probably similar to Seattle which is a sister city.
