West Oakland was where Victorians from all over Oakland were physically taken off their foundations and moved to when the other areas began building newer homes. Thats' the reason why there are so many victorians there.
Sort of like a retirement home(or cemetary) for victorians...

yes there are many all over Oakland, but for some reason(probably because it the part of town least likely to complain, WO, became like their final resting place...LOL

^are those single family homes in the actual city or in the metro?
All of those pictures were taken in the city of New York. You have to remember, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island are all boroughs of New York as well as Manhattan. So you can have a single family home in the city just like you can have skyscrapers and rowhomes etc. Most people think of the "actual city" as being Manhattan, but all of the other boroughs are still apart of New York City.
