Just curious is all. Any thoughts on how Old Brooklyn is these days? My dad grew up there, went to Rhodes High. Is it safe there? The other area I'm somewhat curious about is the "Puritas" area. I know they recently knocked down John Marshall High School over there, that was my grandfather's high school. Just curious if anyone knows what's happening in these areas these days, and how safe they are in comparison to other areas.

They're not dangerous areas, but they aren't neighborhoods that are getting any better. The area continues getting older and more worn out. It hasn't received much attention and there is very little progress in terms of new businesses or new residents.

West Park is looking worn out as well.

Kamms Corner is probably the best of the bunch IMO. These areas don't receive much attention, new businesses or residents.

The gentrification is all happening on the Shoreway, mainly in Ohio City and Tremont - but also a little bit starting around Gordon Square.

Of the non-"hip" safe west side neighborhoods, Kamm's Corener/West Park is and has been the nicest for several decades now. I remember reading somewhere (not sure what years the stats are from) that Old Brooklyn has fallen from the second safest neighborhood in the city to the third with Riverside passing it up. Much of the crime in Riverside happens in the Riverside Projects while the rest of the neighborhood is basically an extension of West Park. Old Brooklyn is spotty, especially in the central part of the neighborhood. The eastern third is the nicest part and the western third is nicer than the middle.

Puritas-Longmeade is still okay, but a little rougher than Old Brooklyn. It also seems to be on more of a decline than any of the others mentioned, especially along Bellaire. The western end of the neighborhood is a lot better.

Another west side neighborhood that should be mentioned in the same vein is what the city calls Jefferson, though I'm not sure how widespread that name is used. It's probably nicer than Puritas-Longmeade but not as nice as the others mentioned thus far.

NOPE DO NOT THINK ABOUT LIVING HERE , and seeing how northern Parma boarders Cleveland from Broadview Road
all the way to Rocky River Drive minus Brookpark and Brooklyn , and everyone knows those areas are too close to the
city boarders just say away . After all anyone asking about this should just move to Strongsville , for the schools ,
or just go a little further south to Medina , for their schools because noone really has a grip on over spending any more

But at least if you do choose Old Brooklyn the media always tells you how bad it is , Not like all the dirty little
secrects not told till it is to late
