I'll be coming via Amtrak next summer from the west coast. I need a hotel that is downtown. I'll have my teenage kids with me as well. We usually stay with cousins in Solon, but I'd like to get a better "vibe" of all that is offered downtown- we always spend one day there, but a few days would be nice.

Thank you for any ideas.

Price? Maybe 150-200 per night. My Amtrak travel is totally on points so I can save for the hotel.

The 2 times I decided to stay in a downtown hotel, I stayed at the Hyatt Regency at The Arcade. I've always liked that hotel.

I'd recommend the Holiday Inn Express...beautiful old converted bank building with huge rooms:

I second this. I used to stay there all the time when I was in Cleveland for work. It's always on the cheaper side, but it's the most beautiful HI Express I've ever seen. It almost feels like a boutique hotel. Plus, it's in a great location.

Check out Hotwire. Any of the downtown area hotels will work fine; the 2.5 star hotels are usually the Hilton Garden Inn, The Comfort Inn (great location) or the Hampton Inn (great location). 3 star and above are going to be the other downtown hotels from Doubletree to the Hyatt. Westin (4-star with ''spa service'' noted) is even on it now; most recent rate for mid-next week, $75.00+ tax. Of course, rates will vary for weekends, season and events going on in the city at any particular time.

Thanks! I was looking at the Holiday Inn Express because it noted that it's a 1894 bank converted and I thought the interior space would be pretty cool. I'm staying the 13th-15th of Dec. I found cheap tix for rt from LAX and my cousin is giving me one of her tix to the Bengals/Browns game! On Monday, she is driving me around Lakewood and other areas.
