^ Good call on Astoria. It's been crazy packed even on weekday nights. I ended up buying a house on w57th which is in walking distance of Astoria. It's my new "go to" spot! They're working on adding a patio for the summer.

My gf has already been to the main sites in Cleveland- WSM, Art museum, cultural gardens, Great Lakes Brewing, Happy Dog, Little Italy, Ohio city, Tremont, Gordon Square in addition to Cleveland Orchestra at Blossom. Planning to spend one day in either Columbus or Pittsburgh.

Are there any new breweries or particularly good restaurants that have opened lately? Any specific events happening that week? I'm always disappointed that I'm never around for any of the Night Markets or the Feast, Dyngus Day or any of those main festivals. I know the Rib cook off is that weekend but not really into that.

Anyway, if anyone has any knowledge of some good events or things I might not have considered, please let me know. Still hoping to convince her that CLE is the way to go and get out of the east coast!
Here's what I wouldn't do from your list, based on my experiences: Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, Punderson State Park, Squires Castle, and the Polka Hall (unless you really like polka).

What does your gf enjoy? Perhaps check out the Hartville Marketplace (on your way to or from Pittsburgh), and the Butler Institute of Art and/or Mill Creek Park in Youngstown.

If going to Columbus, Malabar Farm State Park (tour the Big House) and and Mohican State Park, both in the Mohican region, are favorites.

See Kirtland above for the Holden Arboretum and the Kirtland Temple, and Mentor for the Garfield National Historic Site. If you go to Holden on that weekend, you may need advance tickets for the Canopy Walk and Emergent Tower.

Would she be interested in Cedar Point? The Grand River wineries, such as Debonne Vineyards, would be fun on a warm evening. Check the events calendar.

Have you visited the Steamship Mather, U.S.S. Cod, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Cinematheque, or Dittrick Museum of Medical History, all in Cleveland. The maritime museums are best visited on cooler days.

Check out thisiscleveland.com, PlayhouseSquare, the Lake County and other county vistors bureaus, for event schedules.

This brewery recently opened in Willoughby and gets good reviews.

Awesome suggestions!

Holden is a good call, she's into nature. And birdwatching. Any good places to see some interesting birds? Didn't know about the Willoughby place, I'll look into it.

Thanks!

Holden reportedly is good for birding. At the end of May, its superb rhododendron gardens should be in or near peak bloom. This is a very good site for Greater Cleveland birding locations.

If your gf is a serious birder, she knows about this website. Click on a county, and notice the sighting lists.

I know a very good birder who has Skok Meadow in the Lake Metroparks Girdled Road Reservation high on his list, but I don't otherwise hear much about it. The Hell Hollow Wilderness Area offers a very good deep gorge hike with shale beds.

If you decide to visit a Grand River winery, definitely check out Lake Erie Bluffs. It's great for sunsets, but that might interfere with your winery tour. This tower is a favorite of birders.

Penitentiary Glen has a very good nature center with animal ambassadors representing local fauna.
