This is a discouraging story.

Recent negative stories about Cleveland Public Power and now the West Side Market makes me wonder if the Jackson administration has appointed persons sufficiently qualified to run these operations.

I now understand why many propose privatizing the administration of the West Side Market.

I would support starting privatizing WSM. You cannot have faith in anything overseen by Frank Jackson.

You're still in the ''wondering'' stage regarding whether the Jackson administration is appointing qualified persons to run operations?

The video they showed on the news was sad and shocking. Shame on Jackson for allowing this to continue. If Cleveland doesn't support the unique features it has it will not attract the visitors it always claims it wants.

Yes, because I haven't seen any detailed examination of the persons running the West Side Market or Cleveland Public Power. Have you? If so, please provide the links.

Someone needs to step up and give fellow Ohioans the shopping experience they deserve. Cleveland needs a place like Jungle Jims.

200k square feet of shopping space....
180k worth of products....
Over 20 aisles devoted to imported foods from almost every country imaginable...

Folks in Cleveland shouldn't have to drive 4 hours just to experience this. The West Side Market has been a good band-aid but enough is enough.

Nobody in their right mind would prefer Jungle Jim's to the West Side Market. I've been to Jungle Jim's once, and won't waste my time going again.

They are mostly different experiences. Jungle Jim's is filled mostly with packaged goods and processed foods from around the world, while the emphasis at the West Side is on fresh meats, vegetables, and prepared food specialties.

Additionally, the West Side Market is housed in a century-old, historic market building and is the center of an exciting Market District in Cleveland's Ohio City neighborhood.

Cleveland has several specialized ethnic import grocery markets, all of which offer a more satisfactory experience than Jungle Jim's. E.g., Galluci's:

I've been to both places many times. When I go to Jungle Jim's I can buy the same products I would buy as if I were in Italy, Spain, Greece, France, etc. Why? Because that is where they come from. I simply cannot do that to the same extent at West Side Market. They have some items, but hardly all the ones I want. While my favorite place at West Side Market is the Mediterranean Imported Foods, they only carry around 3,000 imported products, which is far less than the number that Jungle Jim's imports. Everyone I've talked to that has been to both places would rather have a Jungle Jim's than a West Side Market if given the choice. Just far more variety.

Sounds like you went to the Jungle Jim's in tri county, rather than the one in Fairfield which is far superior.

But don't take my word for it... 5 stars after 900+ reviews with 764 rating it excellent... yet WRnative thinks he would be wasting his time going there. The majority doesn't agree with his assessment, so he most likely didn't go to the one in Fairfield.

That being said, West Side Market is great for what it is, and has earned it's 4.5 star rating, but if you can only choose one, you gotta go with Jungle Jim's. How blessed are we as Ohioans to have both options available!
