You could go to Michigan or Pennsylvania or Niagra Falls or Ohio Amish Country or anything in between on a "day trip" from Cleveland.

The point was more for what kids could do on there own when they are older (like...bicycle or walk to) or what families could do on a whim with 2 hrs to kill.

We just moved to Westlake and love it. My kid loves the school, we love the neighborhood.

We are not 'new money'. We aren't 'bouncing around the country'.
We looked at the entire westside and found the house we like here.
Some pretty lame comments here.

You want to hear lame? Someone once told me that most people in Westlake got their money from lawsuits.

Curious about the RR snootiness factor. Worse than SH?

I'm in that same, where do I end up, phase. SH, at least from their Facebook activity, seems a lot more community oriented. RR is mostly commercial postings. Maybe it's the moderators, maybe it's the wrong place to get a sense of the vibe, but it's very marked. Trying to understand this only because my frame of reference is SH (and I'm looking at houses in the same areas as the OP).

Ei yi yi.

I know or have known a lot of RR people. Only one out of at least a dozen would I call "Snooty". THat particular person warned me against moving to Westlake because a lot of "Muslims" were moving in to the area. But overall, RR has plenty of us normal folk and I wouldn't call it snooty at all.

You might want to consider Pittsburgh since the crime rate is wildly lower. Also, the football team is much better. JMHO.

It's a ridiculous statement to claim that the crime rates in Pittsburgh residential neighborhoods comparable to Rocky River and other similar Cleveland neighborhoods is "wildly lower." It's also doubtful that the Steelers are "much better" than the Browns this year, but time will tell that tale. What is certain is that Pittsburgh does NOT have a recreational resource as great as Lake Erie in its back yard; Rocky River has a significant boating culture.

Cleveland's cultural amenities are superior to those in Pittsburgh. E.g., Cleveland offers one of the top-rated art museums in the U.S., arguably the best symphony orchestra in the U.S., and one of the nation's better theater scenes.

If someone enjoys a gloomy, mountainous river valley, Pittsburgh is the superior choice.

Oh, yeah, Pittsburgh doesn't have an NBA team. Cleveland has an AHL team, but if someone is an NHL hockey fan, that is a Pittsburgh advantage.

Just out of curiosity, what Pittsburgh suburb has in its backyard a natural park area comparable in size, beauty and recreational activities offered to the 2,600 acre Rocky River Reservation?
