I am going to be moving up towards Cleveland for a job this Spring, and was wondering if anyone has any information on specific apartment complexes or management companies. This can be recommendations for where to go, who to stay away from, or really, any advice that you can give me.

Some extra information: I am looking at the Cleveland Heights or Mayfield Heights area, but have also looked near Coventry, Little Italy, Shaker Square, and some other places, so I'm quite open to anything in that area.

My biggest concern is for the safety of the area, and then just wanting a place that isn't too run down and the management is decent. (Although from what I've read that might be hard to find.)

My price range goes up to about $800 or $900, and I'm open on the types of apartment. i.e. bedroom number, etc.

One other thing: If anybody knows of any places that have in-suite washer and dryer, or even just available hook-ups, let me know!

Thank you!

I rented an apt. in Little Italy for 3.5 years before I moved from Cleveland.
You will very easily find a nice and clean 1br/1bth between $450-$600 in Little Italy (on Murray Hill, on E. 125th, ... )

The neighborhood is extremely safe.
Quite a few CWRU graduate students (particularly Asian students) live in the area.

The apartments typically won't have a washer/dryer, but there is a nice laundromat on Murray Hill.

I grew up in Cleveland Heights and currently live in Mayfield Heights. C.H. has more con's than pro's. If you like culture and fun places to hang out... then go to C.H. The appartments around Couventry , for the most part, are full of charachter and are spacious. The issue with them are the walls are thin and you will hear your neighbors. And many of them are either cold and/ or expensive to heat. (Most appartments in that area do not include heat.) There is a lot more drug activity and crime in C.H.
In Mayfield Heights you don't have the active arts & nightlife. Although we do have the Boneyard; which has good food, giant screen for sports, bar & games. The main advantage for M.H. is... shopping (Convient and enough to get what you want.), schools and low crime. The apartments in M.H. (for the most part) are corp owned and have nice amenities (like pools & workout rooms). Hope this helps.
One last Q- are you a transplant or coming back to N.E.Ohio? If you don't know anyone (or few people) I extend a hand of friendship.

Thanks for the info from both of you! It was very helpful.

And @techsavey, I am not originally from NE Ohio, but I spent last summer there, so I do know a few people. Thank you for the offer of friendship, however; it's always nice to know people who know the area when you are moving.
