What Outerbanks adventure would you recommend for a family of 4 (kids are 7 and 10 years old).

Head boat or plane ride. Wright Brothers Memorial. Actually, about all of the museums/historical sites there. NC Aquarium is fun.

Where exactly on the Outer Banks are you going to be. It is quite large.

We'll be staying over towards Hatteras. We've been visiting the Outerbanks since the kids were little and have been to the museums and the aquarium (and Jockey's Ridge) before and will definitely be visiting them again.

We've never done a plane ride before but that does sound like fun. I'm not sure that I know what a head boat is. Is that a charter boat or a boat you rent?

We all like to fish. Where is the Crystal Coast?

Even flying kites on the dunes at Jockey Hollow w/b fun (and not very $$$), our kids used to think it was reminiscent of the Sahara Desert (w/o the camels, of course, LOL), there's ice cream stores and fudge stores right there in the shopping center which also makes for a nice treat.

Hatteras Island is great to get away from the hussle & bussle that is a little to much on the North end of Hwy 12.

Another place to see but you will need to make an advance reservation for a private passenger ferries to go
see the Banker Ponies at Shackleford Ponies Wild Horses of Shackleford Banks
and
Shackleford Banks Ferry - Wild Horse & Shelling Safari - Beaufort, NC -Island Outer Banks of North Carolina

The plane service to use is Burris Flying Service. It is out of Frisco. A head boat is a large boat with a lot of people on it. One of them, Miss Hatteras is a 75-ft boat. It is "like" charter fishing, but with a lot more people. It cost less than charter fishing. It would be good for the kids.

Crystal Coast is the Morehead City, Beaufort, Atlantic Beach area. It is further south of Hatteras. It is most likely out of your way, and not worth the time.

I went to Outerbanks for first time in '07 I know it cool to have all these plans but the beach
is somewhere to relax. If you want idea and recommendations that do not cost anything
but instead pamper the whole family just enjoy what Hatteras Island is all about

d walk the streets in Frisco to breath that coastal city air and view in your own time
with glow sticks at night, and play a game or trick with kids with that object from outer space.

My family and I will be arriving at the Outer Banks, (Buxton) Aug. 1st. We love to eat at the resturants outside, does anyone know if there are any resturants on either the coastal or ocean side to eat outside. We did the shackleford Banks and did some shelling and got to see the horses, it was an awsome experience. Love the ocean and can't wait to get there!!!! We have done alot of the Carolinas coastal areas but not the Outer Banks yet. Soon, very soon.
