"Despite the destruction caused by Hurricane Irene, Gov. Beverly Perdue says North Carolina's Outer Banks will be ready for the last big holiday weekend of the summer." Governor Perdue: Outer Banks Will Be Set For Labor Day (http://www.witn.com/outerbanks/headlines/Governor_Perdue_Outer_Banks_Will_Be_Set_For_Labor_ Day_128578838.html?storySection=comments - broken link)

Bev has lost her ever loving mind. I understand the potential tourism dollars lost over the Labor Day holiday because of Irene. But she's not being realistic. Par for the course coming from her. Sure the beaches may be open, that doesn't make them safe to swim. Where will people stay without electricity?!

Geez she is such a typical politician. I suppose they'll have that big section of washed out road repaired in 4 days?

The only people going to the Outer Banks for the Labor Day weekend will be homeowners who want to get cleaning and repairs done.

Everything north of Oregon Inlet up to Duck is open to visitors which is the bulk of the beach so they might as well make the best of the last two or three good weeks of the season.

Default Now aren't we all just shocked! :)

Hatteras, Ocracoke Closed To Labor Day Tourists. Gov. Beverly Perdue got the news during a briefing Wednesday at the state's emergency response coordination center in Kinston.

Default She is a shining example

of what is wrong with government. I would love to stand behind her if I could PUSH her forward.

You people do realise that the outer banks consists of more than just Hatteras. I am sure she was referring to the areas north of the breaks which will be open.
