So for $212 million NC gets the Shelby bypass, which will complete a freeway from Charlotte to Asheville and also complete 4 main interchanges between Lumberton and Wilmington. Thankful the Feds put a time restriction on their money so the State DOT cant just plod along like usual.

I suspect the slow pace of the Shelby Bypass had a lot to do with it. NCDOT's budget problems probably didn't help, either.
In Columbus County, the Chauncey Town interchange and Old Lake Road overpass in Columbus County is on the STIP for for 2021 but had been delayed until 2022 because of funding.
In Robeson County, the Boardman Road interchange was set to begin early 2021 and the NC 72/130 interchange was set to begin in 2022 or 2023.
I like the stipulation because it should speed up the delivery of these interchange projects. This will be a big step to finally obtain Interstate status for this stretch of US-74 in Robeson and Columbus County.
