I am retired and currently living in suburban Virginia, but grew up in NY. I am willing to move anywhere for the right home and for me that is something older and historic would be even better. It has to be renovated though and reasonably priced, under 300,000. I have found a few listed in Hertford, the town , not county and was wondering if anyone could tell me more. I understand it is very small, like 2100 people and doesn't offer much but Elizabeth City and Edenton are close. I know nothing about any of these places but they are just 2 hours from me. Can you walk at night ? do you need a burglar alarm in the town of Hertford ? I am not religious but am conservative with interests in Photography and cooking and my home. I am not a mall shopper but love antique and thrift stores or anything home oriented. any information would be helpful. thank you.
