Hi! My husband and I are looking to move to Wilmington next year, hopefully March 2009. I am a Registered Nurse, and am wondering what are the local hospitals in the area? Do any of them have magnet status? Anyone on here a RN and have good experiences somewhere? I am hoping to get a job on Labor/Delivery, so a hospital that has a good reputation for mothers/babies is a plus.

Any info is helpful! Thanks!

the main hospital is New Hanover Regional Medical Center. Also, there is Cape Fear hospital on Wrightsville Avenue (smaller than NHCRMC)

Cape Fear Hospital is mostly for Orthopedic surgeries. New Hanover is much larger, there are several hospitals in Brunswick county. I am not sure about magnet..

Hey! I know this is a little late. I'm also an RN, pediatrics, and am hoping to relocate to Wilmington. Unfortunately, from my understanding, there aren't any pediatric-only facilities in the area, it seems to mainly be focused on geriatrics. However, New Hanover Regional is opening a new Women & Children's Hospital this year, I think it's supposed to open Sept 14, so that would probably be a great option for you. New Hanover Regional, the main hospital is Magnet. I have a phone interview coming up soon so hope to be in Wilmington by the end of the year. I'm not sure what the starting pay is in NC, but my understanding is that it's comparable to the starting here in Ohio where I'm from. Hope this helps!
