Default Morehead City, Surf City, or Sneads Ferry???

Hello Again!

My husband and I are moving to NC and will be working at Camp Lejeune. We don't want to live on base, but don't want a long commute.
Our main requirements are a gym, coffee shop, and pub. We're in our late 20's with no kids. AND we're moving from San Diego with our two dogs. So we've heard good things about Morehead city, Surf city, and Sneads Ferry. Where should we move?

Your hospitality is appreciated!!

MissintheEast,
I own and operate a real estate agency in Morehead City and would love to have you live here BUT.........
If you will be working aboard LeJune I'm afraid the communte would be just too great. It's approx. 30-35 miles one way. And to be blunt-housing is cheaper in the Jacksonville area.
I'm not trying to stop you from coming here. But I think with all things considered that it would behoove you to look around the Jacksonville area.
Bill

You might also have better luck w/a gym, coffee shop and pub in Jacksonville.

There is a gym, Forever Fit, in Sneads Ferry(there is also a "Curves") - there are two coffee shops - I'm not familiar with the "pub" scene, but there may be some there, I'll check into it. Sneads Ferry is nice in that if you work on base, you can go right up Hwy 172 to the back gate. The beach is not far away either - you might enjoy being that close to it. I don't know that there are a ton of folks your age lurking around Sneads Ferry though. You might take a look at the Neighborhoods of Holly Ridge (in Holly Ridge) subdivision and one called Turtle Creek in Surf City. And you might want to look at Hampstead - you would be about 30 minutes away from back gate of LeJeune and 30-40 minutes from Wilmington and still not too far from the beach. Good luck with the move!
