Hi,
Hubby and I are possibly being transfered to New Bern.
Just wondering if anyone on this board knows if there's
any rural or semi rural areas near there that would make a commute possible.

We really don't want to live in a sub division and when I
search for homes, that's about all I find. We don't have
any school age children so schools are not a priority.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Newport, my sister in law lives in a really nice area. It's about 20 minutes from Moorehead City. Houses are well spaced and last I checked not expensive for a nice house on half acre or so. She lives on a street called Cottontail Lane. Go to link removed and check it.

Hi...Thanks for the info. We'll be going to the area in the middle of July so we'll check it out.

Thanks again!

In the other direction is a very small town called Dover, NC. It is either in Craven or Jones County. There is an area there that Lenoir, Jones, and Craven counties run up close together so I am not totally sure which county it is in but New Bern is in Craven County. Warning though, Dover is probably smaller than where I live in Snow Hill. And believe me that is small. Totally rural area. But it has almost instant access to Hwy 70 the main drag to Atlantic Beach and Morehead City.

Hi....Will definetly look into that area! We love rural...as
long as there's access to other larger towns. Since Dover
has such easy access to 70 that's a good possibility.

Thanks so much for the suggestion.
