they are firing rich rod, but not for poor performance, but rather sexual harassment allegations, among other things;

Rich Rodriguez Fired as Arizona HC Amid Sexual Harassment Allegations | Bleacher Report

i wonder who they will get to replace him?

Arizona's AD, Dave Heeke, used to be the AD for Central Michigan. While he was at CMU, he had Butch Jones as Head Coach, followed by Dan Enos as Head coach. Both of those guys are looking for jobs right now. I wouldn't be shocked if Heeke hired Butch Jones to be the Head Coach, and then hired Dan Enos as the OC. Those guys have a great relationship with each other.

butch jones sounds like someone who can do good at arizona, he is worth watching. however since he worked for rich rod at west virginia, jones may not be seriously considered. sport illustrated has an interesting article on this subject;

I was born and raised in AZ. The U of A has a lot of local stories on it. The university president sent out a statement to current students. Basically, the coaching search has a "job posting" rule of about 10 days before they can hire someone - the earliest would apparently be the 13th. So, that leaves time to analyze
the options. There seems to be scramble to maintain potential commitments by February's signing period
by HS recruits.

The front-runner seems to be Kevin Sumlin. However, that is early speculation. Other names (surprisingly)
include the fired ASU coach. Butch Jones has also been mentioned.

Personally, the football scandals are annoying. Notre Dame had a tragedy with a SMC student some years
ago around the time they played in that championship game.

FSU had the infamous Winston scandal, and CU Boulder had their own set back in the early 2000s. The
accumulation was exposed in "The Hunting Ground" - a controversial documentary about the sexual
assault scandals. Winston's accuser got death threats and bomb threats against her sorority. The girl
at SMC committed suicide.

But those incidents involved very young players. The expectations of a mature, experienced coach are
much higher - but he was apparently dysfunctional with a sex addiction and numerous affairs. It
just caught up with him in the tradition of Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer (so it seems with the
allegations).

To be fair, the due process must be followed. But in my opinion the U of A found enough validity to
fire him. It was in the email by the president. I thought it was a good move.

its going to take more than ten days for the university to hire a new coach, too many interviews to do to hire that quickly.

as for growing up in arizona, i was born in phoenix, and raised in tucson. in was a knothole member in the late sixties and watched football games from the end zone stands back when they had them. and i mean we could almost touch the players that scored, we were so close. fun times then.

And to think Alabama almost got stuck with him back in 07 before landing Saban.
The college football landscape would have really looked different today.

I don't think Butch Jones would be a good choice.

any particular reason for that? i doubt he will be picked anyway due to his having worked for rich rod in the past. and i agree that there are probably better choices out there.

I will say he could not 'coach up' the talent at Tennessee. He also made some poor choices for assistants (strength coach in particular). Also, his teams have a history of blowing first half leads to lose games they seemingly should have won.

Predictable, conservative game calling. If your up to it watch some of last season and this season's games.
