Essentially, the readout is thus: It's time that the best stepped up and the rest walked. The top 40 teams should create a new FBS to keep the competition fierce, BUT the bottom feeders could be kicked out temporarily to the new lower pack and the best of the second-tier could move on up within a PLAYOFF STRUCTURE.
Admittedly, such a make up is in heavy favor to wealthy fan favorite teams (SEC anyone?) and is also best suited for television (which is too influential as it is), the playing field would be trimmed but some guys in the ACC and Big East would lose out on a chance to shine, to say nothing of the smaller time conferences. Still it makes for an interesting conversation.

As a fan of a "non-BCS" (ECU) team I will be OK with this. Granted those 40 teams can only play each other. No more scheduling SW Ark St Technical university to pad stats.
Can't say I'm too surprised at some of those picks, a few though stand out that are just terrible.
At least four off the top of my head. aTm, arky, tenn, UCLA. Mizzou? Really?!
For the upcoming season, that list would be dog****. It reaffirms my thoughts that ESPN is just a growing pile of dog**** as well.
