Don't know why so many people hate CC? I'm starting out at a CC since it is cheaper than going straight into a University.

Only if your credits transfer and if they don't you have spent more money going to a CC then you would have going right to a 4 year school-which is the entire point of this tread.

A CC is a good option if you don't get enough financial aid IF the school has a decent reputation and the credits will transfer to the school you want to go to. There are several CCs in my hometown, and the big state universities won't accept a lot of credits from one of them because that school has a horrible reputation. The others have decent reputations and most of the classes transfer. It's also tough if you're going into a major that has a lot of requirements. Some bio programs won't accept bio 101 from another school.

The bottom line is to do your research to make sure it's a good option. When it does work out, it's great. If it doesn't work out, it can be really discouraging.

I simply need to go to the counselling office and pick up a degree plan that has been oked by the school and university I wish to attend, that everything on the list will transfer over.

And that's a smart way to do it. You'd be amazed at the number of people who don't think of things like that.

A lot of kids take this expense on themselves - my sibs and I did. My parents supported our decisions to attending residential schools for four years, but they didn't fund our college educations, so ultimately, it was our choice anyway.

I viewed our community college as a much more valuable resource AFTER I'd finished college...to me, its greatest value to the community lies not in its Associate's in Arts programs, but in its vocational training, community ed, and continuing ed. I took quite a few classes there just for self-enrichment after I'd already gotten my BA, and really grew to appreciate what it offered to the community in that way.
