Frankly none of you are really telling me things I don't know already.
I am NOT looking for answers I want to hear.
I told you my background, and I asked a question, what do you think of a second Masters? In terms of not being necessarily a better candidate competing for one position, but a better candidate for more positions.
I already know about the basic facts of competiveness for full time positions at community colleges. I've been in one for five straight years.
Once again, if you can weigh in, do you think a Second Masters (geology) (in addition to my geography Masters) is recommended?
And don't tell me, 2 Masters degrees are not going to help you get a position, but it will mean that you could qualify for MORE positions. I can be qualified for this job OR this job, but not necessarily more qualified for this ONE job.

2) It would be reasonable to presume that a second masters would increase your chances of being hired, although I don't know if it would double your chances.
3) If I were in your shoes I would contact the chairs of the respective departments and ask in general terms what they think about your plan and if the two degrees would be helpful or not.

I already did as the chairs, a couple of which do have two Masters instead of a Doctorate. I just wanted to get even more feedback. I prefer to get feedback through every avenue, and then synthesize a plan based on it.
Sometimes you are just more tempted to say what you are really thinking online because where you don't bear any consequences. Since, you can't respond like that in the real world. Its a cathartic experience. But I apologize if I sounded like an ass.

I understand. I apologize as well. If some of your chairs have two masters, it sound like that is a do-able plan. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Have you done any work for govt planning depts? I know people with Masters in Geography who get second Masters in Public Administration and are able to move up in govt. that way. I don't know if that Political Science dept. where you are has a Public Admin component, but it could be a second masters that gives you a lot of versatility.

I did have internships in that stuff back as an undergraduate. Planning was my major. I'm much on the physical geography/earth science side of geography ever since I got my first Masters.
