I wanted to see if anyone can find current figures on college graduation rate of young people. I think the easiest way to tell is what percent of 24 to 30 year olds have a BA or higher. Anyone have any good information on this?

Are you talking about those who go to college or as a total of the age cohort, they're two different things?

What I linked is for those entering college and receiving a 4 year degree.

What I wanted to is what percentage of population of 24 to 30 year old people have graduated with a college degree.

The closest info I have is for 18-34 years with a BA:
Boston leads the U.S. in education levels for young adults - The Business Journals

Big problem with this data is most people under 24 would have received their BA by then! So I am pretty sure the data is lower by a good percentage.

Hmm, so it's true that the majority of people DON'T graduate college, not even in the so-called "educated" NE areas. Interesting. Then why would high schools and society put so much pressure for young people to go college? More evidence that college is worthless and an expensive waste of time and money.

Where? It's accurate to say that the majority of high school graduates don't go on to college. It's also accurate to say that the rate of of college students not earning a degree is a majority (that number has stayed constant for 40 years). It's also accurate to say that high schools are now, and have been for more than a decade, "College for All".

Even using the best numbers only 30% of Americans have a college degree.

Number of persons age 18 and over, by highest level of education attained, age, sex, and race/ethnicity: 2010 has the raw numbers.
Percentage of persons age 25 and over and 25 to 29, by race/ethnicity, years of school completed, and sex: Selected years, 1910 through 2010 has the percentages of, among others, the 25-29 year olds who had college degrees each year from 1985-2010, plus 1920, 1940, 1950, 1960, 1970, 1975, and 1980, for good measure.

I hope this helps.

Thats pretty good source of data, thanks!

I looked the first set of day for 25-29 years old and check # of ppl with associate degree over higher (8,825,000) divide by total number people there (21,453) and got 41%. I would that sounds like reasonable number for the percent of younger generation that completed college degrees.

After getting off active duty, I finished undergrad and graduated at the age of 27. Started dental school at the age of 28 and finished right before the age of 32. Best decision I ever made was going into the military to grow up and learn the ways of the world.

If you had gone to college, you might have learned how to formulate a rational, evidence-based argument.
