I would have to say it depends on what you want to do also. A college degree can be beneficial and get you further, if you know what you want to go for and you get involved in other activities to help you get to where you want to go.
I was told by my parents since I was little that I NEED to go to college, whether it is a 2-year or a 4-year (although, they preferred a 4-year) and that it didn't matter if I got a degree in basket weaving. With a college degree, you can get any job and get paid more for it because of having it.
I would disagree with this way of thinking. I went to college and got the degree. Only problem I'm having now is I have the degree and can't get a decent job because of the type of degree I got. I decided to go for English and art. Unfortunately, I didn't get involved with the newspaper or any other clubs or groups on campus. My sister is going to college this fall and I've been telling her it's important to get a degree in something more specific than broad, unless you get involved and get some experience in that field.
My boyfriend dropped out of college because it wasn't for him and his career goals are different than what he was going for.
