The Canadian government just released a list of the 50 occupations in most dire need of new workers:
Skilled immigrants recruited in 50 occupations ahead of 'express entry' launch - Politics - CBC News

I don't know how much this aligns with the U.S. economy, but it's probably pretty similar. Jobs in finance, healthcare, construction, and the oil and gas industries are on the list. Based on that, specialized degrees in business, management, nursing, physiotherapy, engineering would all be desirable. Any sort of skilled trade would be in demand.

I would think anything in technology and engineering(just some of the engineering fields). MBA, MPA, JD, MD, Accounting, Nursing.
