What's the point of getting a Bachelor's Degree if it doesn't guarantee you a job?

Why go to school for 5 years , graduate with a college degree , and not be guaranteed a job?

Skipping a degree doesn't guarantee you a job, just lower pay.

Maybe if you don't waste your education on a Liberal Arts degree or some other useless program you might have a better shot at it.

There are no guarantees in life besides death and taxes.

Education for the purpose of gaining knowledge? An opportunity to meet a wide variety of people? An environment where you can explore a wide variety of interests? Developing your smiles in an academic discipline and critical thinking? Beer pong?

Five years? Most degree programs are four and easily attainable if you go during summers in three.

College was originally supposed to be about an education, not a job training program.

Getting a degree does not guarantee higher pay no matter which degree you get.
OP: There is nothing that is a guarantee in life except one's descent into death moment by moment.

Being born doesn't guarantee you of a job! That's why we need it so that at birth, a job is assigned and for those without jobs, squish!

A friend of mine's kid is going to a very expensive college in Boston to study "film". Clearly she doesn't expect it to result in a job. My guess is she just wanted a general education.
