Depends on what you want to do with a degree in Sociology...if you want to do Social Work then sure, being a people person is important. If you want to get an advanced degree and do research or be in a research role doing survey work or number crunching then it might be right up the OP's alley.

Never too old to start college in my book, but I'd be lying if I didn't say that someone older than the traditional student (and I'd have to know more about this school) may find themselves out of place.
