How do I go about getting a passport here in the springs? What are the costs and how long does it take?

lots of ways to get your passport ...

you'll need your birth certificate, passport photo's

head to your local post office, where they have the application forms and can do normal processing

or, you can get the forms on-line

there are various options for processing, which can be the regular application or expedited, if you are in a hurry. the cost varies, with the expedited processing at an upcharge.

Some of the post offices can even take the passport photo right there in the office.

^^^
But, some don't and then the photo has to be the right size and format. I know, ended up having to go to Walgreens to get a pix and then back to the PO for my passport.

Everything you need to know is here:

Passports

There's a lookup utility that'll tell you the nearest application acceptance facilities, and if they have on-site passport photo capability.
