Hi.

We are being relocated by the AF to Colorado Springs. We have a daughter

that will be in 9th grade next year. We are between the Air Academy High

School or Colorado Springs Christian High School. They both seem like good

schools academically, but I would like to know what the kids are like at

both. Are they welcoming and nice? Or Clicky? I guess I am wanting to

know if there is a big difference between CSCS kids behavior and Air

Academy kids behavior? Is it worth the extra cost for privite school?

Another issue is safety. I would think on an Air Force Base like the

Academy that it would be one of the safest high schools in Colorado

Springs. Or is this a false security?

I have looked at both websites and have talked with each school, but the

overall atmosphere is what I would like to know about. Any info good or

bad would help us out. Thanks for the help.

In seven years here I've heard nothing about safety being an issue at either school, nor at Pine Creek or Rampart HS, all of which are excellent, as are the two HS up in Monument and most other HS in the region.

I can't think of a significant difference in terms of safety or quality of education that would justify the extra expense for CSCS. So unless you have other reasons for wanting to send your kid to a private school, I think it is not worth it.
