A beautiful drive up and over Wilkerson Pass (the scenery at the top sure to impress) and through South Park, to Buena Vista for a soak in the hot springs (Cottonwood or Mt. Princeton). Then a stop for dinner in Cripple Creek on the way back (taking County Rd. 1 from Florissant - the "back way") is a nice way to spend a long day.

Or from Buena Vista a drive up to Leadville is nice. Or to the ghost town (sort of) of St. Elmo.

But of course, you and your guests have to like road trips!

p.s. Also ... a nice cruise is Cottonwood Pass (same road as Cottonwood Hot Springs) ... it's a pretty drive.

We don't have a ton of visitors but when we do we will go for a drive to Helen Hunt, OCC, Palmer Lake and Monument. Manitou has become such a pain to find parking that we basically stopped going that direction. But when we do it is to go to Green Mountain falls for some breakfast at the Pantry. Or some ice cream at Mildred's up by Pikes Peak

Mike - I just got an email with a link that should have taken me to this thread - but it takes me to a completely different thread on a general forum. Wasn't sure how else to report it.

Don't get me wrong, love having my family and friends stay with us and we go to all the sites around town............ it's the fussing about...before they get here. That's just me. What do I think they are going to do inspect everything? Anyway, enjoy!!

Try Salsa Brava for Mexican food; Flatirons for a good steak.

Lots of places. The aforementioned tourist attractions if they are interested. I like to take people to brewpubs - the new Bristol, Phantom Canyon, Trinity. Dinner at Margarita at Pine Creek if feeling a little spendy. A fun outing is to hike in to Rampart Reservoir via Rainbow Gulch and catch dinner. Hike back, put it on ice and stop for a beer at Bierwerks or Paradox. For a quick scenery jaunt I like to take people on Gold Camp Road, stopping at Helen Hunt Falls. If there's time, a quick hike up Mt. Cutler lets out of town folks feel like they climbed a "mountain".

I really liked eating at Tucanos and if I had visitors (especially visitors as carnivorous as myself) we'd be going there for dinner. It's expensive...but that's kinda why I need an occasion.

Also, caution about taking visitors up Pikes Peak! If they're from sea level, make sure they follow the advice to drink lots of water, my in-laws ended up with a fierce case of altitude sickness and didn't want to get out of bed the next couple days after we went up on the Cog train...
