Hello my name is Heidi. My friend and I are looking to relocate to Colorado Springs, Colorado, within a month or less. I have one cat. But with being married and with little to no money I am having a hard time coming up with money. I am separating from husband. He is an emotional abuser. My friend wants to get out of the situation he is in also. We both live in Oklahoma. He has the money to help start the journey but I need to forth my money also. Which isn't much yet. I was just wandering if there is somewhere we can stay temporary til we get more money coming in. I have currently started the search for jobs in the Colorado Springs area. I did have family that was born in Canon City, Colorado. My great grandfather. Anyway, any suggestions would be grateful! I am looking to be free again and not in such a controlling environment.
Thank you for all the help that you can provide.
Heidi

Is there a Walmart in town? Also, is there a local paper that you can view online. I have many skills to bring to the table, in about every industry and right now I am going for my Bachelor's in Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Information Systems. But looking to enroll with a local university there in Colorado Springs or nearby to do classes on campus. Any other towns nearby Colorado Springs that would be better for work and affordable to live in?

We have plenty of Wal Marts here, and Targets, and many other stores.

Look at padmapper.com for rentals, beware the scammers on craigslist. Avoid the S.E. part of town as it has the most problems.

Two newspapers in town:
- The Indy
- The Gazette
- Craigslist also has a very good job listing.

We have Univ of Colo - Colo Spgs and Pikes Peak Community College. There is also Colorado College but at $40k per year it's out of most people's price range.

Only place cheaper to live is Pueblo and it has a campus of Colo State Univ - Pueblo. There are threads on Pueblo that tell you which are the areas best avoided (Bessemer?). They have Wal Marts too.
