Does anybody know of a place to donate perishable food items? I know about the Care and Share food bank, but they want non-perishables like canned goods. I got a gift package of "Christmas food" (fruitcake, etc) I can't eat due to dietary restrictions, and hate to just toss it....

I bet if it does not require refrigeration, any of the food banks will take it. Does not have to be canned goods.

The stuff is labelled as needing refrigeration.

freecycle.org - post there and someone will want to come take your food - especially if you make it worth the trip by making it several items. You might also call the Marian House and see if they'd be interested.... BTW Care and Share does take perishable stuff - probably/maybe not from the general public though - they have arrangements with some local farmers and restaurants and maybe grocery stores, I believe?

Give it to the next person you see standing at the side of the road holding a "need food" sign?
