We had big fat flakes, blowing like crazy. An hour later, the sky was totally clear. Oh, Colorado...

I predict 1-25".

Now that I see how the storm is moving on the radar, I don't think we will get much more than 3-5" of total accumulation by Monday morning (if even that). I really need to stop getting excited when I hear reports of severe weather from our local forecasters. They couldn't predict a storm in this city if it was snowing on their head.

I love how the Colorado Springs News channels and web sites often avoid using the name "Colorado Springs" in their weather reports when referring to the amount of snow to be expected. We are like a big unidentified land mass in Colorado. They talk about snow totals for Denver, Monument, Teller County, etc., but forget to mention the city they are supposed to be forecasting for. The main article about the snow in the Gazette, for example, talks about Denver the most and doesn't even mention once how much snow Colorado Springs can expect. It is like politicians; they talk in circles about everything except the main topic, out of fear they might hurt their reputation and lose their power.

"If they come, deny everything! Just act dumb. Fender, I'm putting you in charge of that."

Well, we finally got some snow, thanks to a heavy band that came from the North! However, KRDO Storm Tracker 13 once again avoided saying how much snow we will get in Springs, despite mentioning possible totals for every neighboring city. Rachael kind of slid her hand across the forecast screen and mentioned 12" in El Paso county, and ALMOST mentioned Springs, but skipped it like it was too much of a risk. :P

Matt Meister had a better forecast on his Facebook page. Rachael had a webcast on her Facebook page earlier today and was whinning about posts asking when will we get snow and said if she sees one more comment about where is the snow, she will explode.

For good reason. Every forecast said snow would start Sat afternoon. Every person with selective listening or reading woke up Sat morning and didn't understand where the snow was. So I can completely see why she was so irritated by it. "I heard there was snow coming, why is is not here yet?? You suck at your job!!"

Relax people.
