I'm thinking the answer is no, but do they plow the alleys?

I doubt it. I'd suggest a shovel if the sun doesn't hit the alley. Generally, the snow melts off pretty fast. My driveway will be north facing, so I'm bringing a shovel. Compared to Iowa, this will be easy.

A shovel is much better than the 2-3 hours I have to spend on a tractor here in Cincinnati. But to be honest, I don't really mind doing things like that. Snow doesn't bother me at all. I was just curious is the alleys were plowed.

Not that I'm aware. They rarely even hit the secondary/tertiary roads, much less the alleyways. My only experience is living in Old North End; they would never plow the alleyways off Weber, and I don't expect it now. I believe the policy is that if it snows 6+ inches, they'll go to the tertiary roads.

Academy, Powers, Union... those are examples of big roads. Besides I-25, of course. Weber rarely gets plowed, and the side streets- never, if not rarely. I'd be curious to find out from people who've lived through the winters here, and live in another area of town (not downtown) if the side streets are plowed there.

Snow melts off only if the sun gets to it. Otherwise, it turns to ice. Alleyways are interesting in the winter.

This winter is slated to be a dry winter. I'm not too concerned about snow right now.

Anyone that's lived in the midwest will get a chuckle out of someone who thinks Colorado Springs gets bad snow. It's not a big deal here.

Try living in the snow belt of NE Ohio, then you can worry about snow removal.

I'd agree with Ryan... I think what we get, that makes things a lot more difficult, are the ground blizzards that are fairly common on the east side of town. Or, as I call it, West Kansas. (anything east of Powers)

I've lived in Denver, KC, and Cincinnati. I'm well aware that snow isn't as big of a problem in a lot of areas of CO compared to the midwest. I'm just trying to learn how the city I'm moving to works and wondered about snow removal. I'm not worried about it being a problem, only curious.

Main roads and that's it, and we only use sand, no salt.
