I'm planning a move to Arizona. Where can I find a good selection of moving boxes?

I'm looking specifically for the odd types -- for example for glassware, etc.

Thanks for your help.

Your friends will think you're a hardcore alcoholic, but one of the best places to get good sturdy boxes is from the liquor store.

Check prices on U-Line, they can deliver very quickly. You can buy disk-packs and glassware-packs at some U-Haul or other local stores.

Home Depot sells moving boxes. Lowes probably does as well.

Home Dept, Lowes, U Haul all sell various sized moving boxes. I believe U haul will buy back unused boxes, but you might verify with them. Liquor store boxes are nice sized, but most stores recycle them or will limit how many you can take. Copier paper boxes are also nice sized with removable lids, but again, most business will trash or recycle them so find any sizeable quantity may be a challenge. You could check with a few document or copy places to see fit they have any, Office Depot, Docu-Mart, or Fed Ex business outlets, but again they may be on recycle programs and not have many around.

We got ours from neighbours who had just moved in or Home Depot. The small boxes were only .74 each. They sell varying sizes and regular or heavy duty boxes, dish packs, wardrobe boxes...everything you need.

This really is the best route. Not only are liquor/wine boxes sturdy, they have (removable) dividers inside and are perfect for glasses and other breakables. Call a liquor store and ask them what day they tend to have more boxes (liquor delivery day) and I'm betting they'll be glad to give them to you.

Contact Wal-Mart and you may be able to get them to set specific boxes aside. If not, then if you're occasionally up late (around midnight or so) you can swing through the store with a cart and just pick up their used boxes as they restock the shelves. I've done this a couple times when moving or having tons of items to ship. I used to sell a fair amount on Ebay and this was the best way to control my costs for packaging materials. The shipping places would happily murder any Ebay business to bleed them for as much cash as possible.

So in short, get Wal-Mart boxes. If you really want to do everyone a favor, tell the "box selling" companies to shut down since they are not providing any real service.
