Uh oh, just saw my first one inside last night!

The last few years have been GREAT, no mass migration issues w/ the moths but we had some late freezes that may have helped in prior years.

Hopefully this year will be the same! I remember the last real bad year was when the Black Forest fire was going on (the drought years).

I saw divebombing birds at the intersections this morning but couldn't see any moths. Those birds are crazy, I always think one of them is going to come through my windsheild!

Well, even though I now live way across the state where there are no Miller Moths (we get these nasty black moths, instead), based on a childhood spent growing up in the Springs, I predict a banner Miller Moth invasion for my old home town. From what I've heard on the weather, looks like it's been a bit cooler and wetter than average in the Springs. This should make every Dachshund in the Pikes Peak region go wild with joy. Our family Dachshund loved them, too and went nuts chasing them all in damper springs. Some enterprising biology student should research this Dachshund/Miller Moth connection. How about packaged Miller Moth treats made just for the family wiener dog?

I've heard you should use yellow light bulbs outside instead of white ones. If this is true, where do I get these? It's our first "moth season".
Thanks.

The Starlings and Swallows doing this are very adept at avoiding cars. Its rare that you will hit one.

Now the big, fat birds eating roadkill in the middle of Highway 24 out east of Peyton, they are another story. It is not uncommon to tag those with your car, thus creating more roadkill that attracts more birds, which leads to more impacts.

Thanks.
Grew up here and always thought the yellow bulbs were only to deter other bugs, not moths (?)

I'm not an expert but I saw one a few days ago and given that it was only one and I haven't seen another it seems like maybe a light year? Usually in a bad year when they come they come in droves and descend like locust. I agree the last few years have been really light.

For the ones my dogs don't get, we keep a vacuum handy with a hose attachment and just suck them up. FYI, they will leave dark brown/orange spots on your wall and windows - easily washes off with water.
