Is anyone else having a REALLY hard time finding a job in Colorado Springs?
I have been looking for 4 months and have only gotten 2 interviews and they both went with another candidate.
I'm ready to pull my hair out.
Also, it seems the pay has gone way down.
Thanks

maybe. In my field though, it seems I have pick of the litter.

In the customer service/accounting field, not so much

Ryan,
Yes, you seem to have been lucky.
It's really hard.
BTW, glad you made here safely...

I went through this about 6 months ago and had several jobs to chose from when it came time to actually decide. One offer was lower than my requirement, but the others were above. I work in IT security.

Well, I can't seem to even get the chance to have ANYTHING to choose from. I am in legal and admin and there seems to be nothing.
Sometimes I wonder if it would be better to pick and go somewhere that there may be more opportunity.

That may be an option, but I wouldn't give up yet. Have you had anyone objectively look at your resume and provide advice on improvement? Where are you looking for your jobs? Are you asking for advice from the employers who hire others? I'd call up those two that chose someone else and ask them what you could have done to improve. You can make some of those changes to your resume or how you act or answer questions, some will be longer-term improvements, though.

Have you considered looking for a headhunter? That may also help. If you don't have anyone else to look at your resume, PM me and I'll take a look if you feel comfortable with that.

I mentioned that I had several offers to chose from, but I didn't mention that I had applied for hundreds of jobs. That's just how it works.

I'm actually in the process of revamping and then I'll let you know and you can advise.
The other thing that I'm noticing is that some of the jobs only want to pay $10 and hour. How do you live on that? Daycare, single mother, etc.
I'm becoming very discouraged and a little depressed.
I'll let you know when I can have you look at my resume.
Thanks for the offer.

When we first moved here in "04 it took us 6 months to find a job. Luckily we had savings to live on.
Not trying to discourage you but just encourage you to keep on plugging and don't give up!

Thanks.
I've lived here for fifteen years. Through a very large personal mistake I left my job and got married to a psychopath. Moved back to The Springs and can't find work. Sadly, the alimony (short marriage) ran out and now I have nothing left. Hence the thought to pack up and move.
PS, I don't think you could discourage me more than I already am. But thanks for your input.
