Hi guys, I've been reading on the Colorado Springs forum for actually a few years, and just waiting for this day to finally register. I'm moving to Colorado springs, I've lived there in short periods, and went to 8th grade there while living with my father and sister in the downtown econo lodge (great place).

I have a real connection to downtown and absolutely love it, but after our northside lease is up in one month and two weeks, we'll be moving to the southside for the diversity and great cost of living. I'll be seeking work at a call center to get started, and plan to just move up as I live there. I'd love to know anything you can tell me about Colorado Springs, I love the place. \

When I lived downtown as a kid, people were always hanging out downtown in acacia park, there was always something to do and people to meet. But when I spent a week visiting a month ago, nobody was downtown or in acacia park, and it seemed totally different. What's the deal with that? Anyway I have alot of question so if anyone wants to share knowledge that would be great.

Downtown has changed greatly. It's a night hot spot, now. Lots of hipe bars and such. There has been some gang trouble but the downtown biz people are trying to work with the CSPD to calm that down and clean it up. Still great places to eat, drink and be merry!

That's really sad to hear, last month when I was there I walked downtown for a few hours after visiting CC, it depressed me how different it was, it seemed more like steamboat springs, which I can't get away from fast enough.

I think it depends on time of day, weather, etc. Sometimes Acacia is very busy.

It is busier during the week when people are working downtown and students are in school across the street. On weekends, it is pretty empty unless there is actually something scheduled there.

I see, it used to be (couple years ago) that on a saturday if you didn't have anything to do you would go to acacia park and find something to do pretty quickly.

There aren't any real ghettos in the springs right? My brother lives on fountain and though his street (kayden or some ****) looks like detroit it's nothing like that. Hope so because I'll be looking for an affordable place down south, maybe around fountain or south circle.

No real ghettos, but that is considered one of the higher crime areas of the city.

But as long as I'm nice to everyone and don't walk like a victim I'll be fine right?
