We are considering a move to Northern Colorado. So far we have narrowed it down to Ft Collins, loveland area. Does anyone have any suggestions for any other towns we should look at? We are needing a house with a small acreage .25-1 acre ok. for our dogs and cat and like newer construction but want to live in a neighborhood and not out in the forest. we are a retired couple and thus going to work is not a consideration though we dont plan on spending more than $400 K tops. thanks for your suggestions!! p.s we want to be in close proximity to Denver area and near hospitals.

.25 acres is doable for less than $400,000 - but Fort Collins is not considered to be in "close proximity" to Denver. How close is close enough?

No forests to be concerned about.

How close do you want to be? IMO, most of northern co isn't in close proximity, still about an hour plus drive.

Correction bloggers: I understand that Ft Collins area is not that close to Denver....
I mean within a reasonable driving time... we are pretty much interested in North of Denver hows that?? Communities that offer small acreages with homes of newer construction (ie not one on top of another!) but some space in between them..in neighborhoods with green spaces nearby. Schools not a consideration as our dogs and cat are all college educated and degreed. Hospitals important though as my husband is a cardiac patient but we are young spirited... hopefully this will help! thank you to all!!!!!!!!!!!! .

You might look north/nw of Fort Collins. More acreage up that way and prices are generally less because it's out of commuting distance to Denver and Boulder County. South of Loveland (around Carter Lake) is also nice but that's commutable to Boulder County / Denver so prices there will be much higher.
