But it isn't too late to register to vote if you haven't. I have found Ballotpedia.org a good resource for researching the ballot - you can type in the name of a candidate and see his/her voting records, etc., or type in the name of a ballot issue (add the word Colorado to distinguish between similarly named initiatives in other states) and you can see information about for/against views, endorsements, fundraising on each side, etc. Very helpful.

Important info about voter registration

Colorado offers online voter registration. You can register to vote by mail in Colorado by printing a voter registration form, filling it out, and mailing it to your local election office. You can also register to vote in person if you prefer.
Dates and deadlines

Election day is Tuesday, November 6.

The deadline to register online is Monday, October 29. If you miss this deadline, you will not receive a ballot by mail, but you can still vote in person at a voter service and polling center.

If you are going to go in person to register and vote, you should consider looking up the ballot ahead of time to have a cheat sheet with you for how you want to vote. It's a VERY long ballot (mine is 6 pages, other locations may vary slightly) and I think would be quite difficult for someone to get through and make well informed choices if they were only looking for it for the first time when they go to vote

IIRC this is called provisional voting. I was once one of those people who worked at the polls on election day and we'd sign people up right on the spot at the polling place. Provisional votes went to local election office (Clerk of the Court?) who'd verify the identity of the person and once thusly verified as valid they'd count that ballot and add it to the total vote.

This was in 2008 at Pikes Peak Community College on Interquest Pkwy across I-25 from the USAF Academy.

Nope, not anymore. It's provisional if there is a reason that your ballot may not be valid, like you are voting outside of your registered county or the record shows you already voted. They will research the situation and once your ballot is determined to be valid, it gets counted.

But that's separate from same day registration, where you register and then vote, and your vote gets counted just like someone's who was previously registered. The exception on that is if you don't have valid ID. In that case, they will still register you but your ballot is provisional until your eligibility is verified.

Unlike many states, Colorado has really done a good job in trying to make voting easier and more accessible rather than making it tougher and unnecessarily disenfranchising eligible voters. And even though ID is required, they are far more flexible than a lot of places on what is considered acceptable ID.
