Default Idaho Springs - St. Mary's area

I am planning a visit to Idaho Springs to see/purchase one plot of land to build a house.

Is anybody familiar with the St. Mary's area?

Thank you.

Sorry, can't help you about living there. I've been there in the summer for hiking/skiing -- St. Mary's Glacier is a popular spot for summer BC skiing as well as hiking beyond in the James Peak area.

Here's a panorama of the glacier (really a permanent snowfield).

What about houses around there? Are they mainly mobile houses or regular built houses?

Ralita, My folks bought a lot up there back in the sixties. It is a big subdivision. Lots of folks have built homes up there of all sorts. There used to be a nice big lodge up there but is sort of run down now. There are condos at the lake so I assume people live there year round. Lots of "cheap" land up there just be sure to ask some of the locals if the roads are plowed in the winter, as they get a little bit of snow up there.
